Bertha Edmiston
Bertha Mae Edmiston, 97, formerly of 523 Lisle St., Celina, died at 5 p.m. March 9, 2009, at The Gardens of Celina.
She was born Dec. 9, 1911, in Montezuma, to Cloid D. and Sarah C. Yaney Tobin. On Nov. 29, 1928, she married Harold O. Edmiston, who died Aug. 2, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Cloid B. "Ted" (Sue) Edmiston, Piqua, and Mickey L. (Shirley) Edmiston, New Haven, Ind.; a daughter, Marcieta (Leon) Brookhart, Celina; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Miller, Celina.
Deceased are two grandchildren and a great-grandchild; three brothers and their wives, Robert and Thelma Tobin, James K. and Lenora Tobin, John and Alice Tobin; a son-in-law, Leon Brookhart; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Miller.
She was a licensed practical nurse for 14 years and retired from the former Gibbons Hospital, Celina. She was a Gray Lady for the American Red Cross. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, and the former president of the Women's Society of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, She was past matron of the Celina Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a past matron of Rebecca Lodge.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, with an Eastern Star Service at 6 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
