Wayne E. Coby
Wayne E. Coby, 79, 106 Pershing St., Celina, died at 9:17 p.m. April 6, 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following a sudden illness.
He was born Oct. 8, 1929, near Rossburg, to Oliver and Mary Goodpaster Coby. In 1951, he married LaDonna Wagner, who died in 1973. In 1980, he married Martha Schmehl Martin, who survives.
Also surviving are his children: Angela (Curtis) Williams and Stephen (Sherry) Coby, all of Celina; Anita (Terry) Iliff, Pennington Gap, Va., Linda "Kate" (Roger) Rumpff, Sidney; three brothers, Everett "Jr." (Tootsie) Coby, Greenville, Bob (Ozzie) Coby, Ansonia, Larry Coby, Lynn, Ind.; a sister, Dorothy (Jack) Schmitt, Celina; 35 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Gerald; a sister, Betty Murphy, and a brother-in-law, Jack Murphy.
He retired from Thermogas Company in Celina after 30 years service. A veteran of the U. S. Army, he served during the Korean Conflict and he was a member of the American Legion in Celina.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki officiating. Private family burial will be held later.
Calling is 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to C.A.L.L. Ministries, Celina.
