Charles Clifford
Charles C. Clifford, 93, formerly of 331 Jay St., St. Marys, died at 6:50 a.m. April 19, 2009, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1915, near Ohio City, to Charles and Anna Hauter Clifford. On Sept. 14, 1946, he married Dorothy Wieman, who died Sept. 10, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Charles "Tim" Clifford, St. Marys; a daughter, MaDonna (Mark) Puthoff, Chickasaw; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant daughter, Mary Diane; two brothers, William and Stanley Clifford; and two sisters, Mary Beckstedt Grimm and Thelma Hardin.
He was a self-employed furniture refinisher and upholsterer. He attended Celina City Schools and received his diploma in recognition of his World War II service. He was a veteran of World War II and had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, both in St. Marys, and the Disabled American Veterans. He also was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Anthony Cutcher officiating. Burial is at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
