Darell Smith
Darell Spencer Smith, 87, 1901 Winston Drive, St. Marys, died at 4:57 p.m. June 23, 2009, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 25, 1921, in Seward, Neb., to Herbert and Eva O'Dell Smith. On Nov. 13, 1944, he married Jean Louise Beale, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Steven (Nancy) Smith, Springfield, and Thomas (Judy) Smith, Celina; a brother, Howard (Betty) Smith, Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Arthur Smith; and three sisters, Esther Radford, Beryl Brown and Doris Peterson.
He retired from the former Potbury Ford, St. Marys, where he worked as a salesman. He was a member of Living Hope Assembly of God Church, St. Marys, and attended the Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Mo. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the SS Shenandoah, SS Alexander Wilson and the SS Cape Grieg.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Mays, the Rev. Randy McKinney officiating. Burial is at Salem Cemetery near Monticello.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
