State proposed budget cut could have major impact locally

Governor Ted Stickland's latest proposed funding cuts would drastically hurt the state's 251 library systems, including those in Auglaize and Mercer Counties, say local librarians.
The library systems in both counties are already working on reduced revenue compared to last year, they report. The proposal would cut close to 50 percent of library funding. [More]

Celina City Councilman Ed Jeffries supports the creation of a skateboard park, but under one condition - a new location.
Jeffries wants the city to change the location of the proposed park from along Lake Shore Drive - near existing trailers - to some place else. [More]
Action follows lengthy probe by bi-county Grand Lake Task Force

The first round of drug offenders charged in connection with lengthy Grand Lake Task Force investigations appeared recently in Mercer County Common Pleas Court for sentencing.
They include:
• Joshua P. Bernholt, 20, 921 Chestnut St., Celina, was sentenced to community control sanctions after pleading guilty to two counts of trafficking in marijuana. The terms include up to three years supervision, $150 restitution and a one-year operator's license suspension. [More]
