Snow showers will continue overnight. Slick spots will be possible overnight and into Monday morning with temperatures below freezing. Visibility will also be reduced with some of these snow showers. Gusty winds will add to the visibility dropping with some of these snow showers. Remain alert while walking or driving as you might not always able to be see slick spots.

Melvin Schmiesing
Melvin H. Schmiesing, 87, 132 N. Lincoln St., Minster, died at 2:35 p.m. Jan. 3, 2010, at his residence.
He was born June 19, 1922, in Egypt, to Louis and Elizabeth Timmerman Schmiesing. On April 27, 1946, he married Pauline Bender, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, David (Marcile) Schmiesing, Minster, and Gary, (Cindy) Schmiesing, Portland, Ind.; four daughters, Jane Guthrie, Dayton, Karen (Dale) Topp, Anna, Mary (Thomas) Jutte, Celina, and Edna (Donald) Kremer, Chickasaw; a brother-in-law, Olley VanWinkle; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Wilbur and Eugene Schmiesing; and three sisters, Alvira Boeke, Romilda Reigelsperger and Dolores VanWinkle.
He retired in 1992 as a self-employed milk hauler. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in Minster, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Minster.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
