Robert Kanney Sr.
Robert O. Kanney Sr., 80, 402 N. Eastern Ave., St. Henry, died April 15, 2010, at his home.
He was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Coldwater, to Aloysius and Alvina Braun Kanney. On Sept. 30, 1950, he married Dorothy Drees, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert Jr. (Kim) Kanney, Antwerp, Chuck (Deb) Kanney, St. Henry, and Dave (Patti) Kanney, Ansonia; two daughters, Roberta Kanney, Toledo, and Deb (Fred) Schwartz, St. Henry; two brothers, Al (Della) Kanney and Vincent (Marilyn) Kanney, all of Coldwater; two sisters, Betty Weitzel and Mary Ann Kanney, both of Coldwater; three sister-in-laws, Rose Gruss, Coldwater, Bernie Wendel, New Weston, and Regina Wendel, Fort Recovery; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Diana Kanney, and a sister, Margie Kanney.
He retired from Minster Machine Company and was mayor of St. Henry for 20 years. He was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, a past member and commander of the St. Henry American Legion and a member of the Coldwater Veterans of Foreign Wars, Coldwater Eagles and the Mercer County Disabled American Veterans in Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Benedict Magabe officiating. Burial with military services by the St. Henry American Legion and the Coldwater Veterans of Forgein Wars is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
