Mahmood Mir
Former Celina resident Dr. Mahmood Mir, 79, of Del Mar, Calif., died March 30, 2010, at San Diego Hospice.
He was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Shiraz, Iran, to Mir Abootaleb Mir and Shams Khavari. He married Beverley Schrag, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Miriam Mir Ralamb, Suzette Mir Tabor, Kevin Mir, and Halleh Mir; and six grandchildren.
He was a surgeon for 30 years with positions including chief of surgery and chief of staff. He also was a researcher with several studies published. He received his surgical residency and medical pathology training at Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill., and a fellowship at Queens Central Hospital in New York. He was a board certified surgeon by the American Board of Surgery and held teaching positions at the Cancer Institute Tehran and VA Medical Center. He was a member of the Federation of the American College of Surgeons and medical delegate for The Ohio American Cancer Society.
He was buried at the El Camino Memorial Park & Mortuary in San Diego.
