Kenneth Ford
Kenneth E. "Gene" Ford, 88, 3309 Wild Cherry Ave., Celina, died at 10:10 a.m. May 2, 2010, at Celina Manor.
He was born Sept. 8, 1921, in Washington Court House, to Guy and Gertrude Flint Ford. On Jan. 19, 1946, he married Mary Catherine Pond, who died June 2, 1992.
Surviving are three sons, Stephen (Linda) Ford and Richard Ford, all of Celina, and Kenneth (Julie) Ford, Lima; two sisters, Doris Borns and Ruth Canary, both of Celina; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Rose Ford, and two brothers-in-law, Eugene Borns and Ralph Canary.
He owned and operated F&W Services in Celina before retiring in 1987. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Celina. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Celina Fraternal Order of Eagles, a life member of the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713 and a life member of the Celina American Legion Post 210. He volunteered for the Celina Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice for several years and was a scout master in Celina for Troop 114 for five years.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Dennis officiating. Burial with military honors is at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, and 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion membership services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
