Elmer Schlarman
Elmer J. Schlarman, 76, Celina, died at 1:40 a.m. Aug. 4, 2010, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
He was born March 3, 1934, in St. Rose, to Lawrence B. and Philomena F. Hartings Schlarman. On May 11, 1957, he married Sara E. McGill, who survives in Celina.
Also surviving are three sons, Richard Schlarman, Ansonia, Donald Schlarman, Hilliard, and Joseph (Mellissa) Schlarman, Dublin; two daughters, Joann (Joel) Zacharias, Celina, and Diana (Shannon) Boedicker, Celina; a brother, Andrew (Deloris) Schlarman, Maria Stein; a sister, Marie (William) Wendel, Chickasaw; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Kathleen Wangler.
He graduated from the former St. John's High School in Maria Stein in 1952. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, the I.C. Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus Council #1800, all of Celina. He worked as a farmer and retired from the former Huffy Bicycle Company in Celina.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Ken Alt officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
Memorials can be made to the I.C. Endowment Fund or to the Cancer Association of Mercer County, Inc.
