Sister Melitta Barga
Sr. M. Melitta Barga, CPPS, 92, Dayton, died Nov. 22, 2010, at the Maria Joseph Center in Dayton.
She was born March 4, 1918, in North Star, to Leo and Mathilda Stammen Barga.
Surviving are two sisters, Rosemary Nisonger, Greenville, and Eileen Barrett, Naples, Fla.; and a brother, James Barga, Rossburg.
Deceased are siblings Madonna Homan, Sr. Vivian Barga, CPPS, and Brother Bernard Barga.
She entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Dayton on Aug. 30, 1930. She taught primary grades at St. Mary in Dayton, St. Anthony in Columbus Grove and at Fort Recovery, Glandorf and Minster. She also served in Loveland, Colo., and Alameda, Calif. She also ministered in a variety of volunteer programs at Twin Towers in Dayton. She moved to the central house of the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 2008.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Heights in Dayton. Burial is at Salem Heights Cemetery.
Calling is 6-7 p.m. today at Salem Heights. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.
