An arctic cold front will move through the area this afternoon and evening, bringing snow showers and much colder air. While accumulations will generally be less than one half inch, quick bursts of snow will result in reductions in visibility and slick conditions at times. Some snow squalls are possible, which could lead to locally difficult travel conditions.

Local residents weigh-in on whether ridding certain lawn fertilizers would aid Grand Lake

GRAND LAKE - Michigan legislators last week banned lawn fertilizers containing phosphorus, which in large amounts can cause algae blooms in waterways.
Could a similar ban in the local watershed help Grand Lake?
The answer is likely yes, but it would be minuscule because residential runoff represents such a small amount of the lake's total phosphorous loading, local watershed coordinator Laura Walker said. [More]

ST. MARYS - A local man will be returning to Auglaize County from New York to face charges related to the beating death of a St. Marys man in September.
Gordon W. Diggle, 30, of St. Marys, on Wednesday was ordered to return to Ohio during an extradition hearing in Rockland County Common Pleas Court in New York. He is charged locally with felonious assault and aggravated robbery for physically attacking Steven Casad, 64, of St. Marys, outside a bar in the city on Sept. 8. [More]
