Leo Snider
Former Fort Recovery resident Leo B. Snider, 86, died at 10:05 a.m. Dec. 13, 2011, at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville.
He was born April 16, 1925, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to John P. and Margaret Ann McCue Snider. On Oct. 30, 1948, he married Rose Ella, who survives.
Also surviving are children, John L. (Betty) Snider, Chicago, Margaret Ann Snider, Cincinnati, David (Bonnie) Snider, Greenville, Rebecca (Joel) Mills, Corbin, Ky., Cynthia (James) Pratt, Lafayette, Ind.; a sister, Margaret (Frank) Christman, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Deceased are two brothers; seven brothers-in-law; three sisters; and six sisters-in-law.
He was a member of Mary Help of Christians Knights of Columbus Council and was an early member of the Mary Help of Christians Cemetery board. He also was a member of Fort Recovery American Legion and a 17-year member of the Fort Recovery Volunteer Fire Department.
He served with the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theater, Okinawa, Ryukus Island Campaign during World War II.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mary Help of Christians Church, Fort Recovery, the Revs. Paul Woolwend, James Dugal and Tom Beischel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Fort Recovery American Legion.
Calling is 1-6 p.m. Sunday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. An American Legion prayer service is 5:45 p.m. and Knight of Columbus prayer service is 5:50 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Cemetery Fund.
