Scattered snow showers will become more widespread through this afternoon and then likely linger into this evening before tapering off.
The snow showers will be capable of causing brief periods of reduced visibilities, especially this afternoon. In addition, brisk conditions will prevail with west winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range today.
Light snow accumulations will be possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. While roads will remain mostly wet during the daytime hours, some slick spots may develop toward sunset as temperatures begin to drop below freezing.
Please be prepared for the changing weather conditions today and the potential for reduced visibilities when driving.

Yvette Groff
Former North Star resident Yvette D. Groff, 94, died Dec. 26, 2011, at Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Newport, to John and Margaret Gariety Pepiot. On May 20, 1939, she married Paul Groff, who died Jan. 3, 1995.
Surviving are eight children, Ronald (Kay) Groff, North Star, John (Jane) Groff, North Star, Judy (Luther) Strobel, North Star, Robert (Jane) Groff, St. John, Mo., Peg (Urban) Clune, St. Henry, Elaine (Jerry) Singer, New Weston, Roger (Sandy) Groff, Sharpsburg, and Fred (Linda) Groff, Versailles; 31 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five siblings, Ralph Pepiot, Clarence Pepiot, Bertha Monnin, Ann Bergmas and Margaret Streib and three grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star, St. Ann's Sodality and North Star American Legion Auxiliary. She was a promoter of the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal for more than 65 years and had sold Avon products for 20 years.
She was a cook at North Star Elementary School and had worked at the former Star Chip Company, North Star.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
