Arthur Hemmelgarn
Arthur A. Hemmelgarn, 83, Fort Recovery, died Feb. 12, 2012, at Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center, Sebring, Fla.
He was born April 1, 1928, in Dayton to Charles and Catherine Schmitt Hemmelgarn. On April 11, 1953, he married Annie Berning, who survives.
Also surviving are children, Gary (Sharon) Hemmelgarn, Fort Recovery, Larry (Linda) Hemmelgarn, Fort Recovery, Sharon (Gary) McClinch, Versailles, Cindy (Jim) Bernard, Montezuma, and Janet (Larry) Sauer, Westerville; a sister-in-law, Becky Hemmelgarn, Fort Recovery; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Eugene Hemmelgarn.
He was a graduate of Fort Recovery High School, a member of Knights of Columbus in Fort Recovery and Coldwater Eagles and a Gibson Township trustee for 33 years. He also served on the Mercer County Community Hospital board, the Fort Recovery Fire Department board and Mercer County EMA board. He was a member of Mary Help of Christian Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
He was a lifelong farmer.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:45 a.m. Friday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will be held at 7:50 p.m. at the funeral home.
