Byron Anderson
Byron "Barney" C. Anderson, 88, formerly of Celina, died at 6:20 p.m. April 25, 2012, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
He was born June 6, 1923, in Mercer County, to Charles and Mary Granger Anderson. On Nov. 12, 1955, he married Garnet Dalton, who died May 12, 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Barry (Rita) Anderson, Wapakoneta, and Todd (Beth) Anderson, St. Augustine, Fla.; a sister, Olive Miller, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Jeanie Anderson and Betty May Anderson, both of Celina; two grandchildren and one stepgrandson.
Deceased are two brothers, Tom and Ralph Anderson, and a sister, Thelma Boroff.
He worked as an equipment operator for the Celina street department for 30 years. A 1941 graduate of Celina High School, he served as a medium tank crewman and parts clerk with the U.S. Army from September 1944 to November 1945, earning a Bronze Star and Victory Medal while in France and Germany.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. Burial with military rites will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
