Farmers at work
Photo by Mark Pummell/The Daily Standard

A combine kicks up dust in a soybean field in this recent photo taken north of Celina. Farmers and motorists alike are asked to exercise caution on and near roadways as the fall harvest ramps up, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said. Motorists should be careful as some farmers are loading grain wagons on or near roadways to avoid rain-soaked fields. Motorists are asked to slow down near farm vehicles, and farmers should have proper lighting and signage on their equipment. Many farmers will be working through nighttime hours to get crops off.
