Lela McMillan Eken
Lela McMillan Eken, 92, Coldwater, died July 25, 2013, at Celina Manor, Celina.
She was born Oct. 30, 1920, in Celina, to Ray and Barbara "Retta" Brock Hoenie.
In 1939 she married John McMillan, who died in 1980. In 1981 she married William Eken, who died in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Tom (Sharon) McMillan of Coldwater and Larry (Judy) McMillan of Walworth, N.Y.; a daughter, Gayle (William) Davis of Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Miller, Melinda Martin, Nancy Hoying, Thomas McMillan, John McMillan, Susan Rexroat and Daniel McMillan; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn McMillan of Portland, Ind.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen Ashbaugh; a son-in-law, Owen Ashbaugh; a brother, Edwin Hoenie; brothers-in-law, Donald McMillan and Everett Maffet; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Maffet and Jeanette Burger; and a close friend, Vernon Shultz.
She previously was employed at Reynolds and Reynolds, Celina, the former F&J Farm Service, Coldwater, and helped on the family farm. She graduated from Celina High School, and was a member of Coldwater United Methodist Church. She loved to crochet and was a wonderful quilter.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Coldwater United Methodist Church, Coldwater, the Rev. Rev. Allan Brown. Burial will be in Macedon Cemetery, Coldwater.
Receiving of friends, luncheon, and fellowship will follow the services in the church hall.
Memorials may be given to Community Health Professionals Hospice or Coldwater United Methodist Church.
