Edna Prenger
Edna M. Prenger, 91, Minster, died shortly after 3 a.m. Feb. 4, 2014, at Versailles Health Care Center, where she had been a resident since April 1, 2007. She had been suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease since 2005.
She was born Jan. 7, 1923, near St. Henry, to Urban and Augusta Muhlenkamp Link.
On Sept. 4, 1943, she married Arthur L. Meyer, who died July 31, 1988. On March 10, 1990, she married Leo B. Prenger, who died Sept. 1, 2007. She also had a stepmother, Celesta M. Fullenkamp Link, from her father's second marriage, who died Sept. 4, 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Marsha K. Scott, Statesville, N.C.; a son, Richard "Rick" (Deborah) Meyer, Minster; three grandchildren, Billy W. (Brandy) Scott, Statesville, Eric A. Meyer, Fairfield, and Lindsay C. (Sean) Hunter, Cincinnati; seven great-grandchildren, Braden Scott, Bailey Scott, Caleb Meyer, Luke Meyer, Hannah Meyer, Greta Hunter and Elsa Hunter; a brother, Ralph (Esther) Link, Dayton; and a sister, Bernice (Charles) Stacey, Flemingsburg, Ky.
Deceased are siblings, Melvin C. Link, Viola Leugers, Hulda Feltz and Eileen H. Ranly. She operated Edna's Beauty Shop in Minster from 1961 until retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Minster and a past charter member of the Minster Eagles 1391 Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer in the Minster Arrowhead Park Golf Course women's golf league and also enjoyed the competition and friendship with her ladies bridge club. She participated in the women's Tuesday night bowling league at Community Lanes in Minster until she was 83 years old. Her greatest love in life was to sing and go to dances, and she always kept the residents of Versailles Health Care Center entertained with her singing.
A funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church Minster, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster.
Calling is 1-7 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at N.J. Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
