Frey submits resignation as director of southwestern Auglaize chamber

By Margie Wuebker
Scott Frey, executive director of the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce since August 2009, has resigned.
Frey tendered his resignation to the chamber's board of directors on Monday, saying he accepted a business position with a local company. His resignation is effective March 24.
Board president Lori Rindler said the position will be posted later this week.
"We're thrilled for Scott and his new opportunity," Rindler said. "We'll miss having him lead the chamber, but we're grateful for all his work."
Frey left the banking industry to join the chamber Aug. 31, 2009, after executive director Jim Coons left to pursue other interests.
Frey said during his tenure the chamber has added partnerships with local school guidance counselors and New Bremen Development Director Angela Hamberg. Other highlights include development of the Exploration Academy, the Preparation Academy and helping students connect with businesses for career choices.
"We hosted the GOBA (Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure) last year. That was a wonderful example of communities and chamber members working together for something positive," he added.
Other developments include rolling out a marketing program that allows members to link with banner ads on the chamber website at www.auglaize.org, Frey said.
Chamber membership has grown from 264 to 317 while Frey served as executive director.
He also has served on the board of directors for the Auglaize-Mercer Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Auglaize-Mercer Family YMCA, the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance and the Alliance of Ohio Chambers and assisted the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce following the retirement of executive director Kelly Kill.
"I have enjoyed my time with the chamber," he said. "But the time has come to pursue new opportunities."
Resumes for the executive director position may be mailed to P.O. Box 3, New Bremen, Ohio 45869 or emailed to board member Sandy Thieman at sandy@worryfreeins.com.
