Work to replace the High Street canal bridge and mill race started earlier this month as the second phase of the High Street reconstruction project. Total cost of the project is more than $1.8 million, with the Ohio Department of Transportation funding $1.1 million. St. Marys' share - $692,250 - is being covered through the 1/2 percent income tax fund. The project has been delayed for several years due to the requirement of finding a bridge plan that would not harm the adjacent grist mill, which is being considered for renovation.
