Area bus drivers are getting periodic backup as part of a new ride-along program launched by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office.
Uniformed deputies periodically board buses in the Celina, Coldwater, Fort Recovery, Marion Local, St. Henry and Parkway school districts to watch for traffic offenses committed by motorists and to build a rapport with youngsters. [More]

ST. MARYS - Sophomore Nathan Wilker pitched a complete game three-hitter to lift St. Marys to a 9-1 Division II sectional victory over Elida Thursday evening at K.C. Geiger Park.
Now 19-5 on the season, St. Marys advances to the district semifinals next Thursday in Bluffton for a 2 p.m. game against Bath. The Wildcats advanced with a 2-0 victory over Kenton Thursday at Bath.   Elida finishes its season with an 11-17 record. [More]

Damage to local body shop may reach $250,000
ST. HENRY - Fire destroyed a local body shop Thursday afternoon.
St. Henry, Burkettsville and Coldwater fire departments responded to the 4:39 p.m. blaze at Osterholt Sales and Service, 662 E. Main St. No injuries were reported.
