Richard "Dick" Johnson, 69, Celina, passed away at 7:47 p.m. July 30, 2014, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born Sept. 26, 1944, in Wauseon, to Ervin and Leota Pangle Johnson. His mother survives in the Rockford area. On May 3, 1969, he married Brenda Roberts, who died in 2009.

Also surviving are two daughters, Toni (Grady) Hauter, Glenmore, and Cindy (Brian Brown) Conn, Mendon; a brother, Don (Gerry) Johnson, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sisters, Diana (Paul) Hines and Sue Wenning, both of Rockford; five grandchildren, Zachary (Heather) Conn, Bradon, Conn., Cassidy Conn, Melissa Hauter and Katie Hauter; and a great-granddaughter, Morgan Conn, whom he only saw through photos.

He lived most of his life in the Celina area and attended Celina High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1965 and served with the Armored Division until 1967. He then became a materials handler for the International Harvester Corporation until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Eagles in Rockford as well as the Fallen Heroes organization.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. George Maddox officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer County Memorial Gardens, Celina.

Calling is 3-8 p.m. Sunday and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
