CELINA - City council members on Monday night unanimously approved new three-year contracts with the police union representing sergeants, police officers and dispatchers.
Under the new contracts - one with sergeants and police officers, the other with dispatchers - effective Oct. 1, the employees will receive a wage increase of 2 percent the first two years and 2.5 percent the third year. [More]

COLDWATER - Village council Monday night approved an application for a $529,725 loan to pay for rural land to swap for industrial development.
The one-year note would pay for 34.821 acres in Butler Township that officials recently purchased at an auction for $15,500 per acre. Village officials hope to trade the land for a similar-sized lot adjacent to the village to lure industrial development, administrator-engineer Eric Thomas said. [More]

The Mercer Soil and Water Conservation District will have its 70th annual meeting, family picnic and board election on Sept. 28 at the Mercer County Fairgrounds Lefeld Community Building.
