Violet Bauer
Violet L. Bauer, 98, Celina and formerly of rural Mendon, died at 10:27 p.m. Dec. 6, 2014, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, with her family at her side.
She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Spencerville, to Floyd Alvin and Elva Mae Schwartz Wilkins. On Nov. 10, 1940, she married Maurice "Mike" Bauer, who died May 2, 2006.
Surviving are four children, Loretta Stanley, Rockford, LaDonna (John) Williams, Springfield, Harold (Monna Lu) Bauer, Lexington, Ky., and Gerald (Kathleen) Bauer, Celina; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are a son-in-law, Jerry Stanley, and three sisters, Velma Kemmann, Gladys Opal Wilkins and infant Genevieve Wilkins.
She was a 1934 graduate of Spencerville High School. She was a member of the Kossuth-Zion United Methodist Church. In retirement, she and her husband traveled in their motor home to Florida and Texas. She enjoyed fishing, sewing and playing euchre.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, Pastor Tony Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
