Marilyn Werling
Marilyn D. Werling, 77, Burkettsville, died Jan. 1, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born March 22, 1937, in Maria Stein, to Dietrich "Dick" and Hedwig Bohman Mescher. On April 11, 1954, she married Jim Werling, who survives in Burkettsville.
Also surviving are five children, Rick (Carol Prenger) Werling, Burkettsville, Ann (Ken) Stammen, Burkettsville, Nick Werling, Burkettsville, Susan (Steve) Siefring, Marysville, and Sara (John) Waldron, Charlotte, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Eugene (Eileen) Mescher, Yorkshire, Luedna Gelhaus, Fort Recovery, and Urban Mescher, Maria Stein, and in-laws, Norma (Sam) Moorman, of Florida, Ed (Sally) Werling, Burkettsville, Bud (Sharon) Werling, Centerville, Mary Ann Werling, Louisville, Ky., and Fred Werling, Sarasota, Fla.
Deceased are in-laws, Eugene Gelhaus and Judy Mescher.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality, Decorating Committee and various other parish committees. She was a lay distributor at the church and Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was a longtime office manager for Werling & Sons, Burkettsville. She also was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing, and was an avid oil painter.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Burkettsville.
Calling is 1-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-9:45 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
