Paul Boleski
Paul H. Boleski, M.D. Retired, 66, of Pinewood Street, Walterboro, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his residence.
Born in Chicago, Illinois July 20, 1948 to the late Peter and Regina Boleski, Dr. Boleski lived a very full life. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and received a Purple Heart for injuries incurred during combat.
After returning home, he briefly worked in a finance department, and then went to work as a railroad switchman. While working, he suffered severe burns to his body. During a long recovery, he attended college and returned to the railroad in a different position.
With family encouragement, he applied to, was accepted, and graduated from The Chicago Medical School. After his internship, he and his family moved to Celina, Ohio and he established a family practice office.
Dr. Boleski moved to Oak Harbor, Ohio and worked as an ER doctor until a massive stroke forced his retirement. After years of determined recovery, Dr. Boleski moved to Florida to enjoy retirement, and then settled in Walterboro, South Carolina to live the remainder of his glorious days.
He is beloved by all who knew him and cherished in all our hearts. His determination to overcome obstacles in his life will always be admired and an inspiration to all who have known him.
Paul believed he was the "Olde Wolfe" and could be heard on every full moon howling at least once. His passing on May 3, 2015 was during the full moon and is most fitting.
Paul enjoyed life, love, and happiness most of all. He believed God is in all things great and small, and often talked out loud to God, asking him "Why?! Why?!" most of all with a smile on his face.
We will forever remember his smile, his laughter, his lack of worry, and his spontaneous dancing! He loved music, antiques, fishing, reading, and walking in nature, to name a few.
His dog, Sparky, was his last and closest companion, and they were often seen walking together. His generosity to all will never be matched. We love you Dad!! The Olde Wolfe and Unicorn.
Dr. Boleski is survived by his 4 daughters, Risa Boleski of Celina, Ohio, Beth (Mike) Svitak of Las Vegas, Nevada, Amanda Boleski of Celina, Ohio, and Rachel (Gary) McDowell of Celina, Ohio. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Lydia, Samara, Hayden and Mina; as well as his sisters, Carol and Mary; and his brother, Tom.
In respect of Paul's wishes, no services will be held. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to one of Paul's favorite charities, St. Labre Indian School in South Dakota.
Arrangements were handled by the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro; 843.538.5408.
