Martha Sprague
Martha L. Sprague, 87, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 1:45 P.M. Thursday, September 10, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born September 11, 1928, in Auglaize County, Ohio, the daughter of Carl and Erma (Rasneor) Berron.
She married C. Eugene Sprague on April 17, 1954, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1973.
She is survived by her children: David (Juli) Sprague of Saint Marys; Ann (Ed) Morris of Saint Marys; Carla Sprague of Saint Marys; Jane (Sam) Schmiesing of New Bremen and Dale Sprague of Saint Marys. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brian (Lizann) Morris of St. Marys; Kelly Sprague of St. Marys; Kevin Sprague of Celina; Kyle (Katie) Sprague of Columbus; Eric (Danielle) Morris of St. Marys; Natasha (Tom) James of St. Marys; and David Morris of New Bremen; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and by her twin brother Marvin Berron, and by her brother, George Berron.
Martha was a 1947 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had worked as a secretary at Goodyear Saint Marys, and was the manager of the State Liquor Store in Saint Marys, known as "Jim's Party Shop." She later managed Haines Fashions.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Saint Marys Women's Garden Club, and was an Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, making crafts and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Martha's selfless love and eternal optimism was cherished by her family and the hundreds of lives she touched, including the many children she babysat and guided as a Boy Scout den mother. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, the Reverend Bill Maki, officiant.
Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
