Dale Keighley
Dr. Dale Gene Keighley, age 85, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, passed away at Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys, Ohio, on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 9:35 am.
He was born September 6, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, to Arthur M. and Helen (McDonald) Keighley; both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his three sons, Dr. Robert Dale (Sheryl) Keighley, St. Marys, Wm. Scott Keighley, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Bradley Allen (Denise) Keighley, Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Keighley.
Dr. Keighley was a 1948 graduate of Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio; a graduate of Bowling Green State University in 1952, and he earned his Doctor of medicine at the Des Moines Still College of Osteopathy in 1956.
He established his family practice shortly thereafter in Dayton, Ohio from 1956 -1962. After finishing his training at The Dover Clinic in Boston, he went on to specialize in proctology at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio for the next 20 years.
Dr. Keighley is credited and recognized for introducing the Colonoscopy procedure to the State of Ohio. He finished his career in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he was known as the local beach doctor, making house and hotel calls.
He was respected by his colleagues, loved by his patients, and enjoyed the communities where his services were received and appreciated.
He will be deeply missed by all his family who will remember his sense of humor, his love for life, his adventurist sprit, and his boisterous laugh.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, benevolence fund.
