George Hone
George L. Hone, 82, St. Marys, died 10:10 a.m. Sunday May 29, 2016 at Vancrest of St. Marys Nursing Home.
He was born September 27, 1933 in Mercer Co., OH to Ed W. and Vida Mae (Lawrence) Hone. On May 16, 1952 in Portland, IN he married Dorothy Jean Shock, who died February 24, 2016.
Survivors include: daughter Sandra (Jack) Danaher of St. Marys, OH 3 grandchildren: Sean (Marya) Danaher of Wapakoneta, OH; Erin (Nick) Sielschott of London, OH; Tim Danaher of Columbus, OH 1 great-grandchild sister Inez Goins of Greenville, OH sister Ermal Amstutz of Berne, IN sister Mary Catherine (Duane) Boroff of Mercer, OH sister Barbara (Robert) Thees of Celina, OH brother John Hone of Tampa, FL.
Preceded in death by: parents Ed and Vida Mae Hone; brother Carl Hone; brother Franklin Hone; sister Doris Snyder; sister Phyllis "Elaine" Zizelman
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a retired production employee for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys. Following his retirement, he operated a lawnmower repair shop at his home. Along with his wife, he maintained a large vegetable garden for many years. They loved sharing the fruits of their labors with friends and neighbors.
Rites are scheduled to begin 11:00 a.m. Friday June 3, 2016 at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte and the Rev. Josh Andrews, officiating. Burial, with full graveside military honors, will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, OH.
Visitation 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
