Martha Baber
Martha A. Baber, age 85 of Wapakoneta, died at 2:44 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at her home.
She was born March 5, 1931 in Wapakoneta, Ohio; to the late Luther H. and Norma C. Manzelman Althoff. She married Virgil E. Baber who died July 27, 1984.
After graduating in 1949 from Blume High School she continued and enjoyed getting together with her class mates on a regular basis. Martha was a gifted cake decorator who had worked at Cleman's Pastry and Clyde Evans Market.
She was a member of the St. Marks Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta where she had been the organist for over 50 years. Another talent included playing the saxophone in the Findlay Concert Band. She loved her dogs and traveling; treasuring her trips to Germany.
She is survived by a daughter - Michele E. Baber of West Chester, Ohio; a son - Randy E. (Susan) Baber of Wapakoneta; 4 grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son - Terry L. Baber; and 2 brothers - Henry Althoff and Kenneth Althoff.
Memorial services will begin 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2016 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 302 East Pearl Street, Wapakoneta; Pastor Mark Bauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Sunday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society Pan Ohio Hope Ride participant Michele Baber in memory of Martha Baber and Terry Baber, or charity of the donor's choice.
