ST. MARYS - Safety officials are investigating an industrial accident last week that left a Celina man dead.
Jon Paul Jones, 55, was transported by St. Marys Fire and EMS from Omni Manufacturing, 901 McKinley Road, St. Marys, to Lima Memorial Hospital. The emergency call was received shortly before 2 p.m. on Jan. 24. He died Sunday.
According to the Allen County Coroner's office, Jones died of blunt force trauma. Results from an autopsy conducted by the Lucas County Coroner's office have not been released. Allen County officials said Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation officials are investigating the incident.
An Occupational Safety and Health Administration official in Toledo said agency personnel also are investigating the incident. Agency officials said the investigation must be completed within six months.
An Omni Manufacturing spokesperson issued condolences to the Jones family but declined further comment pending an investigation.
The company performs metal stamping, powder coating, nylon coating, screen printing, robotic welding, machine welding, spot welding, orbital riveting and tool and die manufacturing, according to the Omni Manufacturing website.
