Loretta M. Winner, age 100, formerly of Osgood, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at 4:44 P.M. on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Elmwood Assisted Living Center in New Bremen.
Loretta was born May 7, 1917 in rural Darke County near Frenchtown, Ohio, to the late Amos & Emma (Schieltz) Goubeaux of Versailles. On May 9, 1945, she married Norbert Winner at Holy Family Church, Frenchtown. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1993.
Loretta is survived by her children, Becky & Tom Roetgerman of Minster and Carla & Patrick (P.J.) Thobe of Maria Stein; grandchildren Kirk (Betty Shackelford) Roetgerman, New Bremen; Brooke (Jeff) Wilhoite, Charlotte, NC; Holly (Keith) Smith, Chicago, IL; and Tess (Ben) Moeller, Chickasaw; Rachel (Chris) Scott, Grove City, and Natalie (Chad) Ellerbrock, Findlay; great-grandchildren Griffen, Elli & Tate Roetgerman, Logan Wilhoite, Delaney, Jayda & Shay Moeller, Chase Scott, and Asher Ellerbrock; in-laws Estelle Goubeaux, Tipp City, and Rita Goubeaux, Osgood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her grandson Nate Thobe, siblings Clarence (Orpha) Goubeaux, Josephine (Ralph) King, Alma (Hubert) Stammen, Cletus "Jack" (Dorothy) Goubeaux, Frances (Francis) Dapore, Albert "Bert" (Catherine) Goubeaux, Orville Goubeaux, Virgil Goubeaux, Orpha, Marie, and Robert in infancy; and sisters-in-law Alvina (Lawrence) Middendorf, Ruth (Lawrence) Schmidt, and Viola (Homer) Voisard.
Loretta was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, St. Barbara's Ladies Sodality, and original member of American Legion Auxiliary, all of Osgood. A 1934 graduate of Versailles High School, she formerly worked at Buckeye Overall Factory and Osgood Canning factory.
Her freezer was always stocked with homemade cookies and no family gathering was ever complete without her peach pies. She loved playing cards with family and friends. We lost an amazing woman, and heaven gained a beautiful soul.
