Rita Hoehne
Rita C. (Broering) Hoehne, age 88, of Loy Road, Fort Loramie, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at her residence on Wednesday morning, September 6, 2017.
She was born April 8, 1929, in St. Sebastian, Ohio, to the late John and Cecilia (Holdheide) Broering. On November 17, 1959, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, Rita married Norbert Hoehne who preceded her in death on December 7, 2009.
Surviving are three sons: Charles & Candy Hoehne of Jackson Center, Gregg Hoehne of Fort Loramie and Patrick & Diane Hoehne of New Bremen; seven grandchildren: Allison Woodard, Catheryn & Derick Bunke, Bethany, Camryn, Deion, Grant and Preston Hoehne; four great-grandchildren: Landon, Brooke and Ross Woodard, and Kinley Bunke; two sisters, Dorothy Boeckman of Fort Loramie and Mickey Mescher of Tipp City as well as two sisters-in-law, Alice Weitzel of Yorkshire and Alma Timmerman of Coldwater.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ann Hoehne; nine siblings: Elmer Broering, Ambrose & Helen Broering, Marie & Paul Seger, Leander Broering, Linus Broering, Hilda & Charles Steinke, Mildred & Maurice Artkamp, Vernon and William Broering as well as sisters & brothers-in-law: Ruth Broering, Catherine Broering, Othmar Boeckman, Stanley Mescher, Marie & Henry Dircksen, Julius Weitzel, and Louie Timmerman.
Mrs. Hoehne was a dedicated homemaker. Years ago she had also been an election poll worker and did seasonal work at the Minster Canning Factory. Rita was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was active in St. Ann's Ladies Sodality. Over the years she served as a CCD Catechist and sang in the adult Christmas & Easter choir, funeral choir and Berlin Singers choir. She was a member of St. Michael and St. Rochus Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliaries as well as the Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary. She had been the Old Time 4th of July chairperson several years and was honored as Grand Marshal. For 24 years Rita proudly donned the Santa Claus costume for clubs and family parties. Rita was an avid reader and a talented crafter. Over the years she especially enjoyed caning chairs, assembling elaborate puzzles and making rosaries.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, September 11, 2017, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
