Wilfrid Holscher
Wilfrid A. Holscher, age 87, Minster, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at his residence late Sunday evening, January 21, 2018.
He was born August 18, 1930, in Osgood, Ohio, to the late Fred and Clara (Poeppelman) Holscher. On May 4, 1968, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Wilfrid married Rita M. (Echeman) Holscher who survives.
Also surviving are three children: Edward Holscher and Julienne Holscher, both of Minster, Carl & Theresa Holscher of Dublin along with five granddaughters: Carli, Maria, Kathryn, Julia and Stella Holscher; one sister-in-law, Frances Holscher of Coldwater and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by twelve siblings: Matilda, Edward, Urban, Leo, Joseph, Alfred, Robert, Raymond and Rosamary as well as infants, Albert, Julius and Elizabeth.
Mr. Holscher was retired from Auglaize Farmers. Years ago, he worked at the Minster Canning Co. and had also been a partner at Holscher Brothers Farm and Weld Shop.
Inspired by his experience with rheumatic fever, Wilfrid completed extensive home studies in nutrition & wellness. He was a talented craftsman. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well as reading and gardening. Willie was also known for his spirited discussion of current and historic events.
A Latin Requiem Mass will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2018, at St. Remy Church in Russia with Rev. George Gabet, F.S.S.P., celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery in Osgood.
Friends may call Friday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to Shelby County Right to Life or charities of donor's choice.
