Ohio State redshirt freshman Seth Lonsway has collected an number of top honors this week as the Buckeyes begin play today in the Big Ten Baseball Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Celina graduate was named to both the Big Ten's All-Freshman Team and the third team of the All-Big Ten Baseball team on Tuesday.
Those honors go along in being selected both the Big Ten Pitcher and Freshman of the Week for his career-high 14-strikeout performance last Friday at Purdue.
In addition to the conference honors, Lonsway's effort against the Boilermakers earned him National Pitcher of the Week from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Lonsway became the first Buckeyes pitcher since 2009 to strike out 100 batters in a season, raising his regular season total to a conference-best 110 strikeouts and ran his record to 7-4 with a 3.91 ERA.
The Buckeyes open conference tournament play this afternoon against Michigan.
