The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Helen Shafer
Helen "Maxine" Shafer, age 81, of Celina, Ohio, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at 5:45 pm at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. She was born July 16, 1939 in North Baltimore, Ohio to the late Charles and Emma (Brumbaugh) Benedict. She married Alan "Al" L. Shafer on November 17, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2016.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn (Kent) Hinton, Celina, and Amy (Ken) Phlipot, Celina; a son, Scott Shafer and his fiancé, Deb Diller, Celina; two sisters, Shirley Hielman, North Baltimore and Louise Smith, Georgia; a brother, John (Joanne) Benedict, Findlay, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Maxine is also preceded in death by a son, Jack Shafer; a brother, Bill Benedict; three sisters, Mary Lloyd, Jane Hinton and Mabel Witter; a grandchild; and a great grandchild.
Maxine retired from Celina City Schools as a cafeteria manager after 22 years of loyal service. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina.
She was a devoted wife and mother, a fun loving grandma, who had many friends. She will be missed by all.
Due to the National Health Concerns of Covid-19 Maxine's funeral services will be private.
