MINSTER - School board members during their Monday meeting hired Covington High School Principal Josh Meyer as the district's next superintendent under a two-year contract.
Superintendent Brenda Boeke in her report said Meyer's annual salary will be $103,000 and his contract becomes effective Aug. 1. Boeke retires July 31. [More]

Indians outlast Wildcats, Cardinals fall to Lancers

WAPAKONETA - Fort Recovery reached its first softball district final in memory as two other Midwest Athletic Conference teams bowed out in the Division IV district semifinals in Wapakoneta on Tuesday.
In the opener, the Indians withstood several blows from Minster before delivering the knockout with two runs in the top of the eighth to secure an 8-6 win. In the nightcap, New Bremen surrendered eight runs in the fourth inning on the way to a five-inning, 12-2 loss to Lincolnview. [More]

Some Rockford residents upset with new ordinances
ROCKFORD - Nine people attended Tuesday night's village council meeting in what was a heated debate about the village's parking and lawn ordinances.
The parking law went into effect April 12, and an ordinance regarding how residents must keep their lawn has been on the books for years.
Nearly $84K OK'd for drug task force
The Auglaize County Sheriffs Office has been approved for $83,857.39 from the Ohio Drug Law Enforcement Fund to help its drug task forces enforce the state's drug laws and combat illegal drug activity, according to a news release from Gov. Mike Dewine.

Brock Dues' two-out single in the top of the fifth inning scored the tying and go-ahead runs as Fort Recovery extended its season in the Division IV baseball tournament with a 7-6 win over Delphos St. John's on Tuesday at Stadium Park in Delphos.
