Harold Niekamp
Harold W. Niekamp, age 79 of Minster, Ohio passed peacefully from brain cancer on Saturday April 1, 2023 at his home.
He was born October 13, 1943 in St. Henry, Ohio to the late Roman and Alvira Osterholt Niekamp. On October 24, 1964 he married Nancy DeMange Niekamp at St. Nicholas Church in Osgood, OH.
Besides Nancy, he is survived by children: Kimberly (Ian) Schultz, Minster OH, Kelly (Joyce) Niekamp, Dublin OH, Christopher (Rebecca) Niekamp, Minster OH, Curtis (Sherri) Niekamp, Dublin OH, Carrie (Jonathan) Bauer, Dublin OH and 17 grandchildren. His is also survived by siblings include Floyd (deceased) & (Mary Ellen Bruggeman) Niekamp and Roger (Patricia, deceased) Niekamp & Becky. Harolds in-laws include Carl (deceased) (Diana) DeMange of Versailles, Betty (Bob, deceased) Poeppelman of Osgood, Marjorie (Paul) Bruey of Yorkshire, Joan DeMange of Versailles, Ed (Sue) DeMange of North Star, Marilyn (Jerry deceased) Bensman of Versailles, Ernie (Diane) DeMange of Yorkshire, Leroy (Ann) DeMange of Yorkshire, Roger (Kris) DeMange of St. Henry, Rick (Marge) DeMange of Osgood, Elaine (Ron) Marshall of Versailles, Theresa (Bob) Hemmelgarn of North Star and Ken (Angie) DeMange of Versailles Glenna Ruth, very special family friend, along with numerous nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Harold loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed working on the farm, arranging a large garden, camping, and traveling. Harold was always serving others. Whether it was craftsmanship, Oktoberfest 10k, caroling, or supporting the DeMange band, he was always helping solve problems.
Harold was an active member of St. Augustine Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Maintenance Committee, Finance Committee, Resurrection Choir and with youth ministry including pX Games. Harold spent his career as an IT (Information Technology) Manager for 38 years at Minster Machine and 15 years at Duvall & Associates in Dayton, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 PM. Wednesday, April 5 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Tuesday, April 4 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. on Wednesday. Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.
