Myra Hughes
Myra L. Hughes, 69, of St. Marys, OH died 4:36 a.m. Saturday October 5, 2024 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, OH.
She was born February 23, 1955 in St. Marys, OH to Leo D. and Vivian L. (Krauss) Howell. On September 29, 1973 in St. Marys, OH she married James K. Hughes, who survives.
Also survived by: son Jeff (Karrie) Hughes of St. Marys, OH; son Josh Hughes of St. Marys, OH; 5 grandchildren: Grady Hughes, Trent Hughes, Rylan Hughes, Kalli Hughes, Tarynn Hughes; and sister Melody Hodge of Bakersfield, CA.
Preceded in death by: parents Leo and Vivian Howell; son Jamey Hughes (1982); and brother Jerry Howell.
She was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1973). Myra retired from JTDM Hospital, where she worked as a unit secretary for 35 years.
Her favorite pastimes included camping, making all types of crafts, playing cards, scrolling on Facebook and late night phone calls with her girl friends to "catch up" and supporting the St. Marys Roughriders and St. Marys Bands. She maintained friendships with a group of women who met monthly to eat, share laughter and support one another through life's trials and tribulations. More than anything else, she absolutely treasured the time spent with her grandchildren.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday October 11, 2024 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, OH.
Visitation 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Casual dress (especially, SM Roughriders attire) is encouraged.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor's choosing.
