University of Iowa freshman Izzy Zahn (3427), a Coldwater High School graduate, won the 400-meter dash and ran a leg of the winning 4x400 relay this past weekend at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

It was a Hawkeye kind of weekend at the annual Drake Relays in Des Moines.
Both the University of Iowa men's and women's track and field team captured team championships.
The Hawkeye women won their second straight title with 37 points while the men hoist the cup for the first time since 2022.
Freshman Izzy Zahn had a tremendous weekend for Iowa. The Coldwater graduate was part of two victories for the Hawkeyes.
Her first win came Friday in the 400-meter dash. Zahn posted her personal college best in the event, finishing in 53.24 seconds to claim the title. The second win came Saturday in the University Division 4x400 relay. Zahn, Ali Frandsen, Calia Lyons and Princess Uche finished with a time of 3:36.36.
Iowa hosts the Musco Twilight Meet in Iowa City on Friday and Saturday.
Lutz earns G-MAC honors
Ashland freshman Jon Lutz (Celina) earned the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week award for this week after a top peformance at the Ashland Alumni Open this past weekend.
Lutz, who won the NCAA Division II national indoor title in the 60-meter hurdles, won the 110 hurdles in a time of 13.91 seconds, the 10th fastest time in the nation in Division II.
The Eagles start competition in the G-MAC outdoor championships on Wednesday at Hillsdale University in Michigan.
Roth podiums twice at SSC
Embry-Riddle junior Taylor Roth (Minster) had two All-Sunshine State Conference finishes at the league championships in Daytona Beach, helping the Eagles finish second to Tampa in the team standings.
Roth was second in the 1,500 run, finishing in 4:31.54, just over two seconds behind Tampa's Hannah Diete. Later, Roth competed in the 800, placing fifth with a time of 2:12.22, just under a second away from earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II national meet.
Embry-Riddle has another conference championship this week as they host and compete in the Peach Belt Conference championship starting Friday.
Mikesell producing, but Heidelberg struggles
With just three games remaining in the regular season in Germany's Basketball Bunsdesliga, MLP Academics is in line to being relegated out of the top division next season.
Heidelberg (8-23) is in last place in the BBL with the bottom two teams are sent down to the second division ProA next season. Heidelberg's next game is May 4 at home with Weissenfels (13-18) in hopes of snapping a two-game losing streak.
St. Henry graduate Ryan Mikesell, who rejoined the team he played for last season after agreeing to a settlement to be released from Great Britain's London Lions, is averaging 13.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in 17 contests this season. In the most recent game on April 18 against Ludwigsburg, Mikesell had 26 points and five rebounds in 34 minutes as Heidelberg lost 83-73.
Lonsway has longest outing of season
Celina graduate Seth Lonsway pitched a season-high five innings in his most recent start for the Sacramento River Cats in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League.
Lonsway, in his first full season for the River Cats, scattered three hits and a run while walking four and striking out five against Albuquerque. Lonsway left the game trailing 1-0, but received a no-decision after Sacramento rallied, then lost a 5-3 game to the Isotopes.
In four starts this season, Lonsway has pitched 16 innings and has yet to record a decision. Lonsway has a 4.50 earned run average with five strikeouts and eight walks.
The River Cats are currently tied for first place in the PCL West Division at 14-11 with the Las Vegas Aviators. Sacramento starts a six-game series tonight at Salt Lake against the Bees.
