* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...St. Marys River at Rockford.
* WHEN...Until Sunday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, State Route 117 near Route 118 north of Rockford is water-covered and closed.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:40 PM EDT Saturday the stage was 13.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.2 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Joe Chaney
Joe Chaney, age 88, of Mendon, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Shane Hill, Rockford. Marvin L. "Joe" Chaney was born February 7, 1938. His father: Norman Lee Chaney, mother: Martha Daugherty, and step-mother: Ruth Donovan Chaney, preceded him in death.
Joe is survived by his sister-in-law: Glenda Chaney and a niece: Tina & Zachary Avery, of Newark, Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by his sister: Marjorie Chaney, half-sister: Carolyn & Joe Drake, half-brothers: Junior Lee Chaney and William Chaney, and step-brother: Robert & Mildred Jane Donovan.
Joe had worked at a scrap company in Mendon for many years, and for Floyd Anspaugh Construction. He loved spending time with his best friend "Radar"- Eugene Kiser. They used to go to a lot of swap meets together. Joe loved helping everyone. You could always find him on Main Street in Mendon shoveling snow in the winter, and helping anyone that needed a hand.
Friends may call at W.H. Dick &Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, Thursday, May 21, with Funeral Services to begin at 1:30, Pastor Randy Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
