Robert Synder
Robert Ned Snyder, 82, of rural New Knoxville, OH passed away peacefully 12:45 a.m. Saturday August 22, 2026 at his residence.
He was born March 25, 1944 in Sidney, OH to Theodore and Evelyn (Rodeheffer) Snyder. On June 24, 1996 in Pigeon Forge, TN he married Patricia Meckstroth-Schroeder, who survives.
Also survived by: son Jordan (Issa) Snyder of Santa Monica, CA; son Joshua Snyder of San Francisco, CA; bonus children: Deb (John) Katterheinrich of New Knoxville, OH, Teresa (Ed) Stephens of Anna, OH, Jill (Ben) Baumer of Minster, OH, and Darin (Julie) Schroeder of New Knoxville, OH; grandchildren: Ryan Stephens, Kara (Chad) Sherrill, Jess (Dan) Nielsen, Meghan (Scott) Firman, John Baumer, Blake (Paige) Stephens, Hayley (Bryce) Schmiesing, Lauren (Luke) Cantrell, Maura Baumer, Jay Schroeder, Ty Schroeder; and 9 great-grandchildren, with another due in December of '26.
Preceded in death by: parents Theodore and Evelyn Snyder; sister-in-law Nancy; and brother-in-law Dick.
Bob was a graduate of New Knoxville High School (Class of 1962) and Miami-Jacobs Business College in Dayton, OH. While in high school, he pitched a 'no-hitter' game for the Rangers. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where assigned duty was a jeep driver for his commanding officer. Bob was the owner of Alchem Mobile Power Wash, based in New Knoxville. He was a faithful member of First Church of New Knoxville (where he served as deacon and trustee) and American Legion Post # 444 in New Knoxville.
An avid sports fan, he was a follower of the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds, Anna Rockets, Minster Wildcats and, of course, New Knoxville Rangers. His favorite pastimes included vacationing in Tennessee, attending various activities of the grandchildren and having his morning coffee at Main Street Station in downtown New Knoxville. Bob adored his pet dog, "Joey" who was at his side until his passing.
Services are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 1, 2026 at First Church of New Knoxville, with the Rev. Joel Bucklin, officiating. Military funeral honors will be conducted at the church by members of the American Post # 444.
Visitation 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either First Church of New Knoxville or Grand Lake Hospice.
