Alpaca shearing
Sunday, May 15th
These female alpacas await shearing. Mary and Norm Zahn, owners of Coldwater Creek Alpacas, Celina, hosted the annual spring shearing day on May 15 when alpaca owners from five area farms gathered to have 33 animals sheared. The Zahns founded Coldwater Creek Alpacas in 2008. The farm sells the raw fiber to mills in the U.S. and then it is made into products such as hats, socks, gloves, scarves and blankets, Mary Zahn said. The Zahns also sell the animals for breeding stock.
