Miriam Hone
Miriam Eileen Hone, 91, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center. Miriam was born on August 5, 1929, in Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Paul Adam and Helen Marie (Wysong) Karch. On February 5, 1949 she married Lawrence C. Hone who survives in Lima.
Miriam attended Defiance College, then graduated Ohio Northern University with a Bachelors in Education. She went on to earn a Masters in Guidance from Dayton University. Miriam was a teacher for the Lima City Schools at Westwood Elementary for 22 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and then Trinity United Methodist when they merged. She was also a member of PEO Sisterhood, Ohio Education Association, PHI Delta Kappa and O.E.S. Celina Chapter.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her sons: L. Michael (Sharon) Hone of Killington, VT, Timothy P. (Irene) Hone of Farmington Hills, MI and Jay R. (Heather Wilson) Hone of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren: Scott, Joshua, Caitlin, Justin, Sarah, Christopher, Victoria and Katherine; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty (David) Stuber.
The family will receive friends from 4 -7 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the funeral home. Rev. John Foster will officiate. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to P.E.O./Sr. High Scholarship Fund.
