Ronald Brewer
Ronald J. Brewer, 74, 421 Johnson Ave., Celina, died at 12:15 a.m. Aug. 23, 2006, at St. Joseph Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Celina, to Ron and Jessie Krugh Hill Brewer. On June 13, 1954, he married Virginia Linn, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Scott (Nancy), Wilmington, N.C.; two daughters, Cynthia (Mark) Hebert, Duxbury, Mass., and Elizabeth (Jim) Tonra, Wilmington, Mass.; two sisters, Gloria (Meredith) VanTilburg, Kenosha, Wis., and Martha (Jim) Fisher, Celina; a half sister, Marilyn Shinn, Celina; seven grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
He worked for Arthur Anderson Public Accounting Firm, Chicago, Ill.; Celina Insurance Group; and retired from American Mutual Insurance Company, where he was CEO and president. He served on several boards of directors and was director of Combined Charities of the North Shore, Boston, Mass.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a first lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1949 graduate of Celina High School and a graduate of Miami University.
He was a member of the Council of Boy Scouts of America, Boston; and Order of Eastern Star 91, American Legion Post 210, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713 and St. John Lutheran Church, all of Celina. He was past Master of Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 241, Celina; past District Deputy Grand Master, 4th Masonic District; and Illustrious 33rd Mason of the Scottish of the Valley of Dayton,.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Art Wilde officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. American Legion services are 6:30 p.m. Friday and Masonic services are 7:30 p.m. Friday, both at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church or to the Masonic Learning Center of Dayton.
