Scattered snow showers will become more widespread through this afternoon and then likely linger into this evening before tapering off into tonight.
The snow showers will be capable of causing brief periods of reduced visibilities, especially this afternoon. In addition, brisk conditions will prevail with west winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range today.
Light snow accumulations will be possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. While roads will remain mostly wet during the daytime hours, some slick spots may develop toward sunset and beyond as temperatures drop below freezing.
Please be prepared for the changing weather conditions today and the potential for reduced visibilities when driving.

Peggy Alspaugh
Peggy L. Alspaugh, 50, of Rockford, died at 8 p.m. Nov. 15, 2006, at St. Rita's Hospital, Lima. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born March 15, 1956, in Celina, to G.M. and Bonnie Burke Alspaugh, who survive in Rockford.
Also surviving are four brothers, Albert A., Rockford, Terry K., Decatur, Ind., Mark G., Celina, and Todd C., Greenville.
She worked in the office of Tuway Manufacturing, Rockford, for the past two months and was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses, Celina.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Ind., the Rev. Norman Detwiler officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
