Walter Hierholzer
Walter J. Hierholzer, 83, 38 W. Main St., Burkettsville, died at 4:42 a.m. Dec. 20, 2006, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born April 21, 1923, in Cleveland, to Frank and Lena Moorman Hierholzer. On Aug. 30, 1947, he married Rosella Kaiser, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Julius, North Star; three daughters, Joan (Mark) Kunk, Versailles, and Jody (Dan) Lange and June (Dale) Leistenschneider, all of St. Henry; a son-in-law, Matt (Dee) Schwieterman, Coldwater; two sisters, Betty Darland, Burkettsville, and Virginia Olding, of Florida; a sister-in-law, Dorothy, Sidney; 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Jeffrey; a daughter, Joyce Schwieterman; a daughter-in-law, Betty; a brother, Daniel; two brother-in-laws, William Darland and Paul Olding.
He was the former owner of Hierholzer Garage, Burkettsville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, and was a member its men's Holy Name Society.
He was also a member of American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery; Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 5135, Coldwater; and Fraternal Order Of Eagles Aerie 3025, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Tony Fortman officiating.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:45 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Burial with military rites is at the church cemetery.
