Alma Stephenson Now
Alma Elizabeth Stephenson Now, 107, formerly of 990 Tama Road, Rockford, died at 9:10 a.m. Feb. 18, 2007, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Sept. 14, 1899, in Mercer County, to John Jacob and Effie Caroline Strable Bollenbacher. In 1923 she married Robert H. Stephenson, who died Jan. 24, 1958. In 1961 she married Orris E. Now, who died Dec. 6, 1978.
Surviving are five sons, Richard (Sarah Gene) Stephenson, Charles (Anna Lee) Stephenson, and Larry (Joella) Stephenson, all of Rockford, Marlin (Laura) Stephenson, Wapakoneta, and Jerry (Norma) Stephenson, Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Virginia (Maurice) Clegg, Durham, N.C.; two stepsons, Vaughn (Bert) Now, Massillon, and Morris (Doris) Now, Celina; 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Lawrence, Alonzo Jack and Theodore Bollenbacher; three sisters, Cora Fetters, Pearl Wood and Laura Deerhake; and a grandchild.
She was a homemaker and member of Chattanooga United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and memeber of the Women's Society.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Steve Oliver officiating. Burial is at Buck Cemetery, Celina
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
