Ivan Sheffer
Ivan "Sonny" Sheffer, 81, 6630 East state Route 26, Portland, Ind., died Aug. 4, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born March 14, 1926, in Jay County, Ind., to Homer and Rita Nelson Sheffer. On Jan. 18, 1946, he married Norma Jean McKibben, who died March 23, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Greg and Mark, both of Portland; a daughter, Pam (Stephen) Ray, Portland; a brother F.A. Joey, St. Henry; a sister, Anita Springer, Fort Recovery; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was a retired farmer and mechanic. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Jay County Historical Society.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland. Burial is at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
